Kowhai - Morning routine,
Students are doing current events session to see what they have been doing through out the week.
The studios are doing the Karakia together as a studio to remember the school values.
Once they have finished with their Karakia they went to do fitness.
They have sang a song to a student's birthday in English and Te Reo Maori.
Part of fitness is practicing their cross country routine. This is their first time practising their fitness therefore the routine they cut corners then the teachers instructed students to walk and told them they cannot cut corners as a group.
Jacob has constantly disrupted the studio.
After fitness they use class dojo for positive behaviour for learning.
Due to being Matariki week. They are reading the book to the studio about the Matariki.
Overall from this observation due to being in a junior block the teachers needed to give explicit instructions for the students to understand what it means.
When Georgia (teacher) was reading to the students she was asking many questions for the students to think pair and share their knowledge about the book they were reading. She made sure that the students share what Matariki was by explaining the story of the seven stars.
Explain further why we celebrate this day in New Zealand and went further as next year it's going to be our public holiday. I could see that the PD we have done with Jannie has been shown in her teacher practices to implement think pair and share.
