Focus on observation: Transitioning, Attention for the students, Length of time.
Teacher talk/ students talks1:30 They were doing their debate writing in groups.
While students were working on their work Rebecca is moving around to check the students she was checking whether they were working productively. Also she is clarifying questions that the students are having when they are stuck with their debate writing. While Rebecca is working with the studio Joe is inside the silent room testing students. Emmalia(TA) she is also working with students writing their debate.
Students are discussing and negotiating with their writing ready to present their arguments on Friday.
Rebecca reminds the students they have 10 minutes to finish their task.
Due to the room space, when Rebecca is talking the students know when to be silent.
They use the bell to get the student’s attention. Due to teachers testing the students they did not get the chance to do their last Te Reo Maori language game activity.
Overall I was amazed by observing Kauri studio and how strong they were on their tasks. It showed me what a strong student agency they have with their work.
When I went around asking them what they were doing all of them were ready to share what they have done. Due to being a last block it was hard for me to see how they transition one subject to another. However, Rebecca reminded the students the time they have with their work.
